The Gun Guesser firearms database is a browsable catalog of over nine hundred historical and modern firearms from more than forty countries. Each entry includes the gun's name, type, designer, design year, country of origin, era classification, and a photograph. You can filter by era, weapon type, difficulty level, or country. The database is also the source pool for all game modes, so browsing here is a legitimate way to study for your next round.
The firearms in this catalog are not presented as consumer products or tactical equipment. They are historical artifacts that represent the engineering priorities, material constraints, and national circumstances of their time. A Soviet submachine gun from 1941 tells you something about the factories that built it, the workers who assembled it, and the battlefield conditions it was designed for. A British bolt-action rifle from 1895 tells you about colonial logistics, imperial manufacturing standards, and the ammunition economies of the Victorian era.
We organize the database by several axes. Era filters let you focus on specific historical periods: pre-1900, World War I, World War II, Cold War, or Modern. Type filters let you narrow down to handguns, rifles, submachine guns, machine guns, shotguns, or other categories. Difficulty filters let you choose how obscure you want your study material to be. Beginner-level guns are internationally famous. Expert-level guns require genuine specialist knowledge.
Each firearm card links to its Wikipedia page for further reading. We do not reproduce full Wikipedia articles here because we are a game site, not an encyclopedia. But we do provide the essential identifying information and a clear photograph. If you want to learn more about a specific designer, a particular factory, or the geopolitical context that produced a given weapon, the Wikipedia link is your starting point.
The database grows continuously. New firearms are added based on player suggestions, historical anniversaries, and gaps in our geographic coverage. We recently added more entries from South America, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe to balance the historical overrepresentation of Western European and American designs. A truly global firearms history is more diverse than most reference books suggest, and we are slowly correcting that imbalance.
If you are studying for Gun Guesser rounds, the database is your best friend. Browse by era to prepare for a specific category filter. Sort by difficulty to calibrate your knowledge. Click through to Wikipedia to fill in the historical context that helps you remember. The game is ultimately about pattern recognition, and the more patterns you have seen, the better you will perform.
Gun Guesser is an educational geography and history game. We do not endorse, promote, or facilitate the use of firearms. All firearms in this database are presented as historical artifacts for educational purposes only.
