Daily Challenge Mode
The Daily Challenge is Gun Guesser's answer to Wordle. Every day at midnight UTC, a new set of five firearms is selected from the database. Every player in the world gets the same five guns in the same order. Your score is ranked on a daily leaderboard that resets with each new challenge.
I added this mode because Solo Play is great for practice, but it lacks the social comparison that makes daily puzzle games so sticky. Knowing that your friend in another country struggled with the same Brazilian submachine gun you did adds a layer of shared experience that random rounds cannot replicate. The daily leaderboard creates friendly competition without requiring real-time multiplayer coordination.
The five daily firearms are selected algorithmically to provide a balanced mix. You will usually see one handgun, one rifle, one submachine gun or machine gun, and two wild cards that could be from any era or category. The selection avoids extremely obscure guns that would frustrate casual players, but it still includes enough variety to challenge experienced ones. I personally curate the eligibility pool to remove guns that are too visually similar or too geographically obscure.
Scoring in Daily Challenge is identical to Solo Play. Each round is worth up to ten thousand points: up to five thousand for accuracy and up to five thousand for speed. The maximum daily score is fifty thousand points. Leaderboard ties are broken by completion time, so fast, accurate players rise to the top.
One of the most satisfying aspects of Daily Challenge is the streak system. Players who complete consecutive daily challenges build a visible streak count on their profile. The streak is purely for motivation; it carries no score bonus. But I have seen players set calendar reminders so they do not break a forty-day streak. That kind of engagement tells me the mode is doing exactly what I hoped.
The daily reset happens at midnight UTC, which is late evening in the Americas, early morning in Europe, and morning in Asia. Players often post their scores on the Gun Guesser subreddit to compare strategies and complain about particularly tricky guns. The community discussion around each day's set is one of my favorite things to read.
Gun Guesser is an educational geography and history game. We do not endorse, promote, or facilitate the use of firearms. All firearms are presented as historical artifacts for educational purposes only.
